Character and Caption Limit Checker

Check your text's length against Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platform limits at once. Free to use, no signup required for occasional use.

What is the Character / Caption Limit Checker?

The Character / Caption Limit Checker compares the length of your pasted text against the known character limits of major platforms simultaneously — including Twitter/X posts, Instagram and TikTok captions, LinkedIn posts, YouTube titles and descriptions, Google Ads headlines, SMS messages, and SEO meta descriptions. Instead of checking each limit separately, you see all of them at once, with any exceeded limits clearly flagged so you know exactly where your text needs trimming.

How to use it

Paste your caption, post, or copy into the text box and click Check Limits. Every platform's limit is displayed alongside your text's current length and how much room you have left; platforms where your text is too long are highlighted so you can shorten it before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms are covered?

Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube titles and descriptions, Facebook, TikTok, Google Ads headlines, SMS, and SEO meta descriptions are all checked at once.

Does it update live as I type?

You check by clicking the button, so you can compare limits as often as you like while editing your text.

Are emoji counted correctly?

Character counts use standard string length, which may differ slightly from some platforms' emoji-specific counting rules, so treat the numbers as a close estimate.
