Acronym Generator
Turn a phrase into an acronym, or reverse it: input letters and get suggested matching words. Free to use, no signup required for occasional use.
What is the Acronym Generator?
The Acronym Generator works two ways. In standard mode, it takes a phrase — like a project name or team slogan — and produces the acronym formed by its first letters. In reverse mode, you provide a set of letters (such as an existing acronym you want to build backronym meaning for) and the tool suggests a fitting word for each letter, drawn from a themed word bank of positive, professional-sounding terms. This is handy for naming projects, teams, or products, and for brainstorming backronyms.
How to use it
For standard mode, type a phrase into the box and click Generate to see the acronym formed from its initials. For reverse mode, toggle 'Reverse mode', type a set of letters, and click Generate to see a suggested word for each letter — regenerate for different word suggestions.
Frequently asked questions
What is reverse mode?
Reverse mode takes letters you provide and suggests a word starting with each one, useful for building a backronym from an existing set of initials.
Will the suggested words always make grammatical sense together?
Suggestions are drawn from a themed word bank and are meant as brainstorming starting points, not a guaranteed coherent phrase — feel free to regenerate or mix and match.
Does standard mode ignore small words like 'a' or 'the'?
No, every word's first letter is included, so you may want to omit minor words from your input phrase if you want a cleaner acronym.
